Amazon GPSR: "Invalid Responsible Person Provider" — What It Means and How to Switch
Amazon GPSR: "Invalid Responsible Person Provider" — What It Means and How to Switch
One of the less-documented GPSR compliance issues on Amazon is the rejection of Responsible Person submissions because the designated provider appears on Amazon invalid Responsible Person providers list. If your compliance submission was rejected or your listings were deactivated despite submitting a Responsible Person, this may be the cause.
What Is the Invalid Responsible Person Providers List?
Amazon maintains an internal list of EU Responsible Person providers whose services it considers invalid for GPSR compliance purposes. Providers end up on this list for various reasons, including operating without proper legal standing in the EU, providing "letterbox" services without genuinely holding technical documentation, being flagged by EU market surveillance authorities, failing to respond to official inquiries from authorities, and providing services that do not meet the substantive requirements of GPSR Article 4.
Amazon does not publicly publish the full list of invalid providers, but it is accessible to sellers within Seller Central under the GPSR compliance help pages.
How to Check If Your Provider Is on the List
- Log in to Amazon Seller Central
- Navigate to Help → GPSR → Invalid Responsible Person providers
- Search for your provider name or company registration details
- If your provider appears on the list, your compliance submissions using their details will be rejected
What to Do If Your Provider Is Invalid
If your current EU Responsible Person provider is on Amazon invalid list, you must switch to a different provider. Here is the process:
Step 1: Find a valid EU Responsible Person provider
Look for providers that are registered as a legal entity in an EU member state, can demonstrate they genuinely hold technical documentation on file, are not on Amazon invalid list, and provide a written service agreement that meets GPSR Article 4 requirements.
Step 2: Terminate your existing agreement
Review the termination clause in your current service agreement. Most providers allow termination with 30 days notice. Ensure you receive written confirmation of termination.
Step 3: Sign an agreement with the new provider
Obtain the new provider legal name, EU postal address, and contact email address.
Step 4: Update your Seller Central submissions
Go to Account Health → Regulatory Compliance → Submit compliance information and update the Responsible Person details for all affected ASINs with the new provider information.
Step 5: Monitor the review status
After resubmission, Amazon will review the new information within 24–48 hours. If the new provider is valid, your listings will be reinstated.
Why This Matters Beyond Amazon
Appointing an invalid or non-compliant Responsible Person is not just an Amazon policy issue — it is a legal compliance issue under EU law. EU market surveillance authorities can contact your Responsible Person directly. If the person or company cannot respond appropriately or does not hold your technical documentation, you may face fines or product recalls even if your Amazon listings are technically active.
When selecting an EU Responsible Person provider, prioritise legal substance over low price.
