Batteries sold in the EU must comply with the new EU Batteries Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, WEEE, and REACH. DPP requirements apply from 2026.

The EU Batteries Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 replaces the old Batteries Directive and introduces comprehensive requirements including performance, safety, labelling, producer responsibility, and Digital Product Passport requirements for industrial, EV, and LMT batteries from 2026. All batteries must comply with REACH chemical restrictions and WEEE producer registration.
