EU Compliance for Toys

Toys sold in the EU must comply with the Toys Safety Directive, CE marking, and GPSR. Chemical restrictions, mechanical safety, and age labelling are strictly enforced.

Product Categories Overview

Toys are a high-risk category subject to the EU Toys Safety Directive (2009/48/EC). CE marking is mandatory and requires conformity with EN 71 safety standards. Chemical restrictions (REACH, phthalates), mechanical and physical safety requirements, electrical safety for electronic toys, and age labelling rules all apply. GPSR applies since 13 December 2024.

Requirements depend on the product, applicable legislation, and supply chain. This information is provided for general guidance and does not constitute legal advice.
