GPSR Responsible Person
for Non-EU Sellers

The EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) requires every non-EU seller to appoint an EU-based Responsible Person. AuraDPP provides this service — officially registered in the EU.

What is a GPSR Responsible Person?

Under EU Regulation 2023/988 (General Product Safety Regulation), every non-EU manufacturer or importer must designate an EU-based Responsible Person — also known as an EU Authorized Representative.

This person or company acts as the official contact point for EU market surveillance authorities and consumers. Without one, your products cannot legally be sold in the EU.

The requirement became mandatory on December 13, 2024 and applies to all product categories sold to EU consumers — whether through Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Shopify, or your own website.

Who Needs a GPSR Responsible Person?

If you sell products to EU customers from outside the EU, you need one. This includes:

Amazon sellers (FBA & FBM)
eBay sellers
Etsy sellers
Shopify store owners
WooCommerce sellers
Alibaba / AliExpress sellers
US, UK, Chinese manufacturers
Dropshippers
Private label brands

Non-compliance risk: Products without a GPSR Responsible Person can be blocked from EU marketplaces, removed from Amazon listings, and subject to fines up to €30,000.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a GPSR Responsible Person the same as an EU Authorized Representative?

Yes — under GPSR, the terms 'Responsible Person' and 'EU Authorized Representative' are used interchangeably. Both refer to the EU-based entity that acts as the official contact for your products in the EU market.

Can I use my EU customer's address as a Responsible Person?

No. The Responsible Person must be a legal entity (company or individual) that formally accepts responsibility for your products in the EU. Using a customer address is not legally valid and can expose you to liability.

How quickly can I get a GPSR Responsible Person?

With AuraDPP, you can get your EU Responsible Person designation within 1-2 business days after completing the onboarding process.

Does AuraDPP also provide Digital Product Passports?

Yes — AuraDPP combines EU Authorized Representative services with Digital Product Passport (DPP) creation under ESPR 2024/1781. You get both compliance services in one platform.
