Amazon Error: "To List This Product You Must Provide GPSR Information" — Fix in 3 Steps (2026)
Amazon Error: "To list this product for sale, you must provide the information required to comply with our General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR)"
This is one of the most frequently reported Amazon errors since December 13, 2024, when the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) came into force. The full error message reads:
"To list this product for sale, you must provide the information required to comply with our General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR)."
If you are seeing this message when trying to create or update a listing, it means Amazon is blocking the listing because mandatory GPSR compliance information has not been submitted for that product. This article explains the exact cause and the step-by-step fix.
Why This Error Appears
Amazon requires all sellers offering products to EU customers to provide three pieces of compliance information for each ASIN:
- Manufacturer contact details — the name, address, and email of the entity that manufactured the product
- Responsible Person contact details — the name, address, and email of an EU-based Responsible Person (mandatory for non-EU manufacturers)
- Warning and safety information — product-specific safety warnings
This error appears when at least one of these three items is missing from the ASIN. It can affect both new listings (blocking creation) and existing listings (triggering deactivation for EU customers).
Who Needs an EU Responsible Person?
If you are a manufacturer or seller based outside the European Union — including the United States, United Kingdom, China, Canada, Australia, Turkey, or any other non-EU country — you are legally required to appoint an EU-based Responsible Person before your products can be sold to EU consumers.
The Responsible Person is a legal concept defined in GPSR Article 4. They act as the official contact point for EU market surveillance authorities and must hold your product technical documentation on file.
How to Fix This Error
For direct brands and manufacturers:
- Go to Seller Central → Account Health → Regulatory Compliance
- Click Submit compliance information in the top right corner
- Select the affected ASIN
- Enter your Manufacturer contact details (your own company name, postal address, and email)
- Enter your Responsible Person contact details — if you are outside the EU, this must be a third-party EU-based service provider
- Add the relevant safety warnings for your product category
- Save and wait 24–48 hours for Amazon to validate the information
For resellers:
If you are reselling products manufactured by another company, you have two options:
- Ask your supplier to register your company with their existing Responsible Person
- Find an independent EU-based Responsible Person provider and sign a service agreement with them
After Submitting: What to Expect
Once you submit the information, Amazon will review it within 24 to 48 hours. During this period, the listing may remain in a "pending" state. After validation, the error will be resolved and the listing will become active for EU customers again.
If the status remains "pending" for more than 5 business days, contact Amazon Seller Support and reference the specific ASIN and the GPSR compliance submission date.
Preventing This Error on Future Listings
To avoid this error on new listings, set up your Responsible Person information in Seller Central before creating new ASINs. Amazon allows you to save a default Responsible Person profile that can be applied to multiple ASINs at once, significantly reducing the time needed for bulk compliance submissions.
